.......

Exam sucks. Period.

.......

Fine. Despite doing poorly in the last paper, there`re still reason to celebrate. Semester 2 is officially done and over with (provided I don`t fail those paper). This sem is quite lousy to look forward to as all the core subjects looks completely uninteresting.

1) Measurements and Instrumentation
2) Mechanics of Material
3) Engineering Design 2
4) Thermodynamics 2.

I`m did find thermo a litte interesting (yes, I`m that bored of a person) but not bored enough to be able to comprehend the boringness of the first 3 subject. Design could have been fine if the coodinator is some other person that the one that taught us 2 weeks and left us for holiday. Which explains why I screwed up todays paper big time.

I`m considering to launch an official complain. Though, that depends how piss off I`ll still be tomorrow morning after finish my bottle of Tia Maria`s tonight.

As for tomorrow, I`ll be leaving for NTU tomorrow for the model UN. And Jing En`s complaining why am I not nervous or scared. Probably because NTU`s a place I`m too familiar with or because most of them attending are a bunch of junior college students... or the exams have drained any mood I have left for the rest of the week.

I`ll still try to give my best though. After all, I would want my first time (of attending a MUN) to suck right :)

I changed my template.

As you can see, another simple template. For some reasons, I can`t use xml even though mine is the beta version (or maybe not). Do anyone know how can I sort this problem out.

Since most of the nice templates are in XML format, it took me really long to find one in classic html that does not look too boring and down right ugly. What convinced me to pick this template is the fact that the comments appear in the same page instead of a pop-up. And there`s lots of gui links that allows you to subscribe and link the blog.

*there`s also a language translator at the bottom right of the side bar. I don`t know how useful is this.... but then again, from my tracker, I did had a few people from Saudi Arabia reading the blog. heh...

I`ll be updating my blog again as soon as my last paper finishes on Thursday. Until then, wish me luck alright. :)

Patiences is virtue

Despite all the horrible things that happened since the start of the year, I told myself something good will come. From the unfair judgment at worlds, the accident, missing bus and trips, being wrongly accused..... I remained optimistic.

As I walk out of church today, just barely 5 minutes after I made my peace with God, my helmet on my motor is nowhere to be seen. I just bought that helmet 2 months ago and it cost RM 60... and it`s stolen... again. And I have to ride home all the way from town WITHOUT a helmet. I could have easily died if I meet with

Which bugger is evil enough steal in front of a church!!!!! If only there were point system in committing a sin. Like :

a) Stealing a helmet from a rich man who doesn`t need it cuz he drives a Ferrari = +2 sin
b) Stealing a helmet from a poor guy who needs the helmet to go to school = + 5 sin
c) Stealing in front of a church = +8 sin

d) Stealing a helmet from a poor guy, who just survived an accident and needs the helmet to go to school, in front of a church = x1000000.....sin = unforgivable.

Introduction to Marketing 101

What Is Marketing

1. You see a gorgeous girl at a party. You go up to her and say: ' I am very rich. Marry me! ' - That's Direct Marketing

2. You're at a party with a bunch of friends and see a gorgeous girl. One of your friends goes up to her and pointing at you says: ' He's very rich. 'Marry him.' -That's Advertising

3. You see a gorgeous girl at a party. You go up to her and get her telephone number. The next day, you call and say: ' Hi, I'm very rich. 'Marry me - That's Telemarketing

4. You're at a party and see gorgeous girl. You get up and straighten your tie, you walk up to her and pour her a drink, you open the door (of the car)for her, pick up her bag after she drops it, offer her ride and then say:'By the way, I'm rich. Will you 'Marry Me?' - That's Public Relations

5. You're at a party and see gorgeous girl. She walks up to you and says:'You are very rich! 'Can you marry ! Me?' - That's Brand Recognition

6. You see a gorgeous girl at a party. You go up to her and say: 'I am very rich. Marry me!' She gives you a nice hard slap on your face. - That's Customer Feedback

7. You see a gorgeous girl at a party. You go up to her and say: 'I am very rich. Marry me!' And she introduces you to her husband. - That's demand and supply gap

8. You see a gorgeous girl at a party. You go up to her and before you say anything, another person come and tell her: 'I'm rich. Will you marry me?' and she goes with him - That's competition eating into your market share

9. You see a gorgeous girl at a party. You go up to her and before you say: 'I'm rich, Marry me!' your wife arrives. - That's restriction for entering new markets

NTU MUN 2008

I can`t believe I engaged myself in another troublesome event in the midst of my supplementary exam. And no, it`s not a debate this time

Though, something rather similar. Next weekend, just a couple of days before CNY, I`ll be leaving for Singapore for the NTU Model United Nation. If you want to know what is it all about, visit http://www.ntudebsoc.org/MUN/index.htm .

Jing En and I will be representing the Islamic Republic of Iran. Why we are given this awful position, I have no idea. Yet, we are expected to defend the countries screwed up stance and all the lies it had conjured over the past decade.

It`s a debate where logic fails and the only way out it to be a charismatic speaker. Something which I won`t be able to do, not for another 100 years. Well, if anything, this will be a good public speaking training.

Nevertheless, it will be my first Model United Nation and frankly, I`m really shit scared excited about it. 10 more days to go :)

NOOOOOooooooo!!!!!

The released the supplementary exam`s schedule.

I have two papers on the same day, NEXT TUESDAY!!!

THAT'S TOO FREAKING SOON!!

how can they do this to me....

WHY!!!!

*i can`t even remember my subject code....

*i don`t even know what`s the last chapter of the subjects I`m taking

*i don`t want to take the exam!!.

somebody..help :(

A new semester soon.

It`s one week away from the new semester. It`s been more than a month since I last touch any academic related material. While everyone was studying for the finals, I was away 'holidaying' / debating in Kl-Singapore-Thailand.

Now, I don`t even remember what subject I took, let alone facing the supplementary exam when the sem reopens. I dread going back to the university. While I could see potentially exciting weeks to come, the amount of things to be done are so much, the p
rospect of going back to school seems to be a horrible one.
A quick check list of what needs to be done in the coming weeks.

1) Prepare for the exam.
2) Familiarize with UN model and decide which country/issue I want to to talk about. (this is in preparation of the NTU MUN on Feb 2.
3) Prepare the meeting Agenda for Voices.
4) Talk to SRC about organizing the forum.
5) Robotics meetings....
6) Book venues and prepare for a recruitment drive.
7) Compile an activity report.
8) Buy a new bed for my room :)

and I want to learn at least 2 new piano piece before going back to Malacca. If only I`m not that lazy.

Anyone have an instant 'hardworking pill'?

Defining moments of W28

I was feeling extremely bored, so I browsed through the pictures I took during Assumptions worlds. Though I complained that it was boring, lame this and that...... it wasn`t really all that bad. There are memorable moments that`s worth remembering. And when I thought of those times, I couldn`t help my self but smile.

Well.. to compensate for all the rants I wrote.. here 5 reason why Assumption World rocks.

No 1 - Getting to know Thailand. And the easiest way to find out if you`re really in Thailand...is visit Mcdonalds.

see.... when Mcdonalds says think global, and act local, they take it literally.

No 2 - the awe upon reaching Assumptions University.

I remember uttering 'this is NOT a university" loudly upon entrance. The whole place give you a majestic feeling. You feel privileged just to be here.

No -3 - They book the entire amusement park for the debaters for New Year celebration/ break night.

The one thing I remember clearly is Seidu screaming as he`s being sent off towards the top of the tower saying " THIS IS A LOUSY WAY TO DIEEEEE........."

No 4 - The opening dinner - to discover that the appetizers have 6 dish.

and the main course consist only of rice and 2 other dish. (and like I said.. they both suck) That`s one cultural difference that I would not accept. But it was a good laugh.. at least the false hope of getting proper Thai food made us happy.. for a while.

No 5 - and like every tournament.. having free booze is a good thing.. even if it`s just Singha Beer.
having hundreds of debaters sitting by the beach... with almost unlimited beer...just drinking and waiting for the sunrise. That`s an experience money can`t buy.

A visitor :)

I had a visitor :)

Adelene came down to Kajang a couple of days ago. It seems to be a while, but it`s been more than 20 days since I last saw her. That`s.... quite long.

That nice of us, to come down all the way alone then go back 2 days after...alone. I brought her to Time Square since my aunt`s there and I`ll get free food and lodging to pay her a visit.

Had nice food while we`re there. I get to taste Haagen Daz for the first time after 10 years. Wooo.. and it cost 16 bucks for 2 scope..... which idiot who don`t have a generous aunt will want to eat that.

Spent the rest of the time shopping, particularly looking for Adelene`s shoe. I became a high heels shoe expect in a day. So girls, you can call me out the next time you want to look for shoes... lol

*and Alex remembers he have an exam on the week after next.... and rushes to attempt to study.

The past few days

Since that day, I`ve been traveling less often. I just hanged out around Kajang, playing snooker and yum cha with friends. Surprisingly, I`m not grounded.

and we all wondered how the black ball gets there.....

I also made a conscious effort to travel less because i chickened out of the rising fuel price. It`s kinda funny how my parents still allow me to drive the car, even on the day AFTER the accident. And I drove to Elaine`s bday party at Damansara on Sunday.

I`m the only guy at the who are not once, her classmate.

I suppose, the biggest problems I face now are.. not having enough cars to drive at my house, and worry how much my insurance`s going to cover the cost of the car. My grandma`s planning to write it off and refuse to repair it. Something to do with 'suay', 'not nice to drive' and the fact that all of us discovered that the car plate`s number 5987, is exactly the same as my birthday`s... 5th 9 (sept) year 87 after the accident. I thought having the such a number`s suppose to be a good thing. I mean, people pay thousands to buy them.

Though, it`s kinda sad. No one, not even me notice it. Until my grandma went to 4d to buy the car plate number and thought of buying my birthday number only to discover they are exactly the same. Lol.... now you know why people always stop to look at the car plate during major accidents. Typical chinese :P

It`s time to move on

I suppose it time for me to blog this and move on from this event. It`s not I can avoid this either, with people asking me about the bruise on my neck and my hand.

So, what happen 3 days back..... I got involve with a horrible accident... a potentially fatal one. In fact, looking at the damage on the car, it`s quite hard to imagine that none of us were seriously injured.

and here`s the other car that got involved.

I would really want to leave the details out of it. Let by gone be by gone.

I`m glad, from the bottom of my heart, that no one is seriously injured.....though, the pain of seeing my one month old car in such a condition hurts more than the wounds in my hand.

Traumatizing as it may, it`s another chapter of life.

New Year Resolution

In this period of recuperation, I finally get the time to reflect what happened last year and think about my much delayed new year resolution.

2007 was quite a year actually. I won`t even recognize the me one year back (and I don`t mean physically). And to really cut the story short, I suppose all the traveling, reading, meeting different ppl have pretty much change my perceptions of things. What more, I`m no longer in my teens and hit the big no 2 in 2007

If 2006 were the year of success, then 2007 is the year failure. I tried really hard to think what I`ve achieved last year, but I couldn`t find any. Maybe I`ve move on beyond petite achievements and start looking at the bigger picture. Though, the picture remains unknown despite all the searching.

I remember someone said, failure is a stepping stone to success. And it will only become a stepping stone if you treat it as such. And true enough, I finally realised that you stand to learn more if you lose something.

So, the new year resolution.

1) Learn from previous mistakes and make sure I don`t make them again.
2) Appreciate more.
3) Prioritize properly ( I know, said this since forever, but I still haven`t been able to do it)
4) Stay alive?
5) and the hardest one of all. Stop procrastinating.

As usual, it`s a resolution..... and from past experience, none of them were fulfilled. Maybe this year my resolution should be fulfilling my resolution. Heh..... 2008, it`s been a bad start... hopefully things will turn better.

Something bad

Something awful happened today. I`m not ready to blog about it. But maybe in time I will. Right now, to all who are cared... I`m fine. Thank you very much for your concern.

Meanwhile, go surf someone else`s blog or something.

Being random

What will you do, if you are bored, with 2 crazy friends and a car.

Drive... somewhere. Anywhere. We ended up in.....

Genting Highlands.. some where around midnight.

Visibility was bad. Since it`s the rainy season, the fog is so thick you can barely see a thing. Though, that doesn`t apply for the taxi drivers who still go uphill at 60-80 km/h.

The fun part is of course, tail gating the taxi... at that speed, uphill, with little care on what`s ahead of us as while playing Tokyo drift on the stereo.

Oh what`s the point of going up? - to drink Old Town coffee in a different atmosphere. Good enough a reason?

Part 2 - Pattaya

The last 4 days of the tournament is held in Pattaya, a place with beautiful beach and more. (don`t ask).

The sands are not exactly white, but it`s still equally nice to walk on. The winds are actually cool instead of hot and humid like in Malaysia. I can walk around with my jacket and still not sweat. :)

The towns are filled with people trying to rip you off with selling their handicrafts, food, taxi, women and man. Frustrated, we went to a wholesale where prices are fix and you don`t need to bargain.

There`re quite a number of things in Pattaya you`ll never find in Malaysia. Such as PINK noodle..

*looks like it`s coloured by blood.

We also have pork strips...

No... the dog`s not food. Found it in a pet shop. Cutie isnt it.

And on the alleys... rows and rows of A go go bars and gay bars.

*the gay street. note: a go go boys.

So guys, the next time you come to Pattaya, be prepared.

Note : CP is here to remind you the importance of safe sex :)

Tourney Report.

From the vent of frustration, I suppose it`s not hard to guess that the debate didn`t went well. What got my team frustrated was the fact that we would be among top 3 Malaysian team have it not for being screwed over by some dumb bitch whose chairing the last round.

Which pretty much means that I don`t enjoy this trip as a whole. Even after discount the fact that the hotel room in Pattaya was absolutely horrible, I wouldn`t be sudrprise that this is possibly, the WORST worlds university debating championship ever.

The tab was delayed every single day.
Food sucks.
Adjudication pool is filled with dumb people.
Food sucks.
Booze runs out by 11pm
Food sucks.
No bathtub in the hotel room.
Food sucks.....

Yea, the only saving grace for any tournament if it were to go really wrong is the food and booze. None of these were even close to what an average debater will call decent. Thus ultimately, proving Assumption Worlds the worst worlds ever.

*enough of ranting for now...... I`ll post some pictures if there are ppl who wants to see them. Let me know.

A not so happy New Year

Very rarely, you have reason not to be happy in a new year.

But getting screwed over, cheated, bad news, and items getting lost.... I felt so angry I`m lost for words.

Still, it shouldn`t stop other people from happy... so Happy New Year guys.

This space is my simple escape from the harsh reality. Expect lots of random rants and whining apart from the daily reporting of things going I`m going through.

Take nothing seriously, leave comments, or just a simple hi. The world is getting smaller by the day, why not know each other now. Have fun ya all.

Regards,
Alex
