Nodame Cantabile

An excerpt from Wiki.

Nodame Cantabile
(のだめカンタービレ Nodame Kantābire?) is a manga by Tomoko Ninomiya. It received the 2004 Kodansha Manga Award for shōjo and has been licenced in North America by Del Rey Manga. In Japan it already received two adaptations to TV, a live-action drama which aired in 2006 and an anime series which started airing on January 11, 2007

piano student at the Momogaoka College of Music and an excellent violinist, but Chiaki doesn't care about playing these instruments as much as he dreams of someday being a conductor. Chiaki, however, has several deeply rooted fears about traveling, and so finds himself "trapped" in Japan. Because he's trapped, Chiaki starts to question exactly how far he can possibly go in music, especially when he's passed over again and again by others he believes less worthy of musical scholarship and fame.

Recently dumped by his girlfriend for a "ham" looking fellow, passed over for a chance to go overseas, and removed from his star spot in the piano competition because he walked out on his piano instructor, Chiaki is at his limit. This is when he meets Nodame, or Megumi Noda. Nodame is a free — and filthy — spirit who reminds Chiaki that music can be fun and what drew him to be a conductor in the first place. In learning how to deal with Nodame, Chiaki learns how to deal with others. Chiaki begins to realize what is possible for him, even within the country of Japan.

For Nodame, Chiaki is everything she isn't. Clean, neat, dedicated, studious and inherently arrogant about his accomplishments and capabilities, Chiaki constantly bullies her into being more serious about life. He sees potential in her and her abilities as a pianist that she doesn't care about. She loves Chiaki and wants to be with him, but because she's not serious about her piano studies nor her personal hygiene, Chiaki always denies her affections.

Drawn together in a turbulent relationship, Chiaki's perfectionism and Nodame's untamed nature ends up completing each other. As the story progresses, they mature as individuals, as musicians and as a couple.

This is like one of the best drama I ever watch. I`ve watched it twice on my own, once with Adelene, now my Sis is watching it. If you like drama-jap-music.. this is not to be miss..

Steal, beg, rob.... go and get this drama. It`s really really nice.

Early Morning Departure!

There you go. Korea... WEE!!!!

Apparently, there are holidays which I don`t look forward too.

I`m in a state where I know nuts about my syllabus and exams is coming. I didn't calculate properly the numbers of days that I can study. Normally, now would still be enough to catch up on what I lack.

But, with Asians in less than a week away, It`s impossible. What`s worse is that tomorrow (Thursday), next Tuesday and Wednesday are holidays. Which means that the lecturers are not around. I`ve still yet to get my references and had loads of questions to ask them.

Then, I looked at my exam and flight schedule and horror stuck me. Arrival back to Malaysia. 14th May 11.45 PM. My first exam 15 May 9am.

Assuming a the check out duration is one hour, I had less than 9 hours to get back to Malacca, sleep, and prepare for my first exam. Owning to the fact that I currently clueless on what happened in class, and also there`s too many 'distraction' in Korea..... I would rather not attend the exam.

Those aside, I really really really hope our contingent will do well in Korea. Beat those Japs and Koreans to crap!!!!!!!!!! (wouldn't it be cool call the Japs stupid in their own language.. BAKA!!)

The days that I fell.

Not so dramatic. Really. Just so happen I watch too much Lord of the Rings.

2 days ago, I fell sick.. literally. Strange enough, I had fever, headache, flu, soar throat, cough and even toothache ALL at same time. It was so bad that I slept for 15 hours straight, without the will to get up nor the strength to eat. So I went hungry for close to 24 hours.

Adelene came later in the night and brought me out to dinner and force me all kinds of vitamins and medicine (yuck). I remember seeing something green, greyish, white, some herb drink, essence of chicken, porridge and some dark brown sticky stuff ( I think that was cough mixture). All in all.. eww eww ewwwwwwwwwwwwww.

Nevertheless..... because now that I 'can`t' go for the Pre-Asians debate at cyber, chinese orchestra concert at Main Hall and wushu training, I free. A little too free. What I ended with is a marathon of Lord of the Rings. (extended version, mind you).

The first was about 3 hours 30 minutes. So is the 2nd.. and the 3rd is 4 hours 30 minutes Faints. After watching all of them... now I feel sick again.

*advice from doc : Patient must always get some fresh air whenever possible and not stuff themselves in the room.

Yes doctor. nod nod. Never again.

MMU Awards?

Every year, this university had some awards for so and so club, or so and so person. Only problem is, no one really cared about it. As for as most are concerned, MMU Awards are something that STAD organized because they feel like it.

Everything about it is just weird. Like the nomination process are just fucked up. How do you expect ppl to nominate for themselves? Isn`t that hypocritical if one ppl go and summit their own names for nominations. I just don`t get it.

Given how horrible the reputation of this award, will the person standing there, receiving the award, feel any pride of holding that title?

Honestly, I don't know. But all I can say for now, it`s weird.

Me, UN and the world.

While I would have love to dread about how I just screwed up my thermo mid term, I hate myself more not being able to do anything.

Every single day, reports of bombing in Iraq escalates, and recently the campus killing in Viginia Tech. I was invited to debate in a presentation with the deputy secretary of World Youth Foundation about the 'the abolishment of UN'. Being on the side of the opposition, obviously I have to defend it.

Now, what I really hate about myself not being able to do anything, is that I just talk. I talk like I cared. I talk like these things matters. But what I`m doing now living a unproductive live doing practically nothing. All I do is just whine... and make a lot of noise. I so hate to see people are suffering yet, nothing could be done about it. I hate I hate I hate, and I loath the world so much, that I really think that Armagedon probably the next best thing human should look forward too.

I really wonder, can the secretary general of UN really sleep at night. Knowing that the very momment he closes his eyes, some one is dying. Some one is being tortured, some one needs help. Every momment delayed, ppl suffer.....

World peace is just a far-fetched ideal. Ppl who try achive them are chasing the clouds. Yet, it`s because we have ppl who do so, there might be hope. The only question is, will it then be too late?

Music + Gaming

I`ve always like music. Same goes for gaming. So, when I first learned about this type of game, I immediately became obsess. First it was o2jam (because it`s free), then it was Rock Fever, and now, Drummania.

The cool part is that this game very close to the real thing. Maybe the advance drummer will have a few more extra symbols and snares... but this is good enough for me. (for now). I just tried the game a few time. Damm, I never wanted to let go the drum stick.

After lamenting for years of not being able to play drum... I might just be able to do so, soon. Heeee....

*what`s even cooler is that this mania series actually links up. There`s Drummania, Keyboardmania, Guitar Freaks... all these instrument can combine together and form a virtual jamming studio. Serious, Yamaha should just replace all their teachers with these machines. (but you still need teachers to teach you the theories.. damm).

MMU Malacca International Chess Open

One word : tiring

I`m so tired that I don`t even have the energy to sort the files in my laptop and desktop. Though it wasn't as grand as I expected, I`m glad that it went through. I would like to thanks Mdm Norhana so so so so much for helping us out with the tabs and rankings throughout the tournament (for free).

Well, it`s not really free, since her son won RM 500 (3rd place).

I want the money too :( so sad than we went in the hall with so many trophies can so much money, but came out with none.

Anyway, here are some pictures. (horrible quality)

The people

The prizes

The top players

the mo-liew people

Where`re my pictures???? grumbles grumbles...

The Preparation

Prepare for what? Good question.

Can`t believe everything is just so near. My Internation Chess tournament, after months of planning, will start in less than 10 hours. I`m still preparing decorations and yet sort out the participants.

Then, my themo mid term will be right after this tournament. I definitely haven`t prepare for that.

All Asians in South Korea is less than 3 weeks away. As of now, I`m not even closed to be an Asian Level debater. No amount of prep will save me now.

And even after all of that, I have my finals, exactly a month away. Yes preparation is important, though I question my ability to do so.

*in any case.. I`m really exited about my tournament tomorrow. It`s the first time in many many year Malacca`s going to organize a chess tournament at this scale. As a director, as a representative of chess club, and as a MMU student, I can`t let this tournament to screw up, even in the slightest bit.

Wait for the pictures ya :P

I (finally) change my blog`s layout and the tag box *YEAH!!
Are`nt you happy Ei Leen.

I suppose this new layout is relatively simple. Some how, I felt life that way will be a lot happier. Then again, it might be boring as well. Let`s just see how long (this template) keeps me happy.

I had a good partying with Voices member 2 days, ago and a good mid term too. So, to make it 'simple', I will cut the long story short, and hope that this will be a good and simple week. (not possible).

God will make a way.

/begin 'Jesus`s boy' status.

Having debated in the International Humanatarian Law Debate, organized by ICRC, horribles fact of reality once again, lingered in my mind.

Since it`s Easter, let`s talk about God.

Despite so many conflict, so many wars, so much suffering, people still believe God exist. Frankly speaking, sometimes I, myself question the existance of Him..because it`s just so hard to comprehend that these sufferings are allowed to happen.

Regardless, it`s the very people, who are in those shit, that hold so strong to their faith. Maybe it`s hope, maybe it just somewhere/someone to turn to, whatever it is.... it brings them smiles.

I had somewhat, are fun weekend. Tiring, yes. Actually, tiring is an understatement. (if you are forced to drive more than the total hours you sleep in a`ll understand). But, apart from that, everything turns out to be just fine.

On Friday, I had to leave the bus I got on with my team mates because I left my bag in the bus station. The initial plan was to go to Seremban, take a train to Kajang, take my van, and go to Shah Alam. Now, my team mates are on the way to Seremban, on their own.. while I`m still back to Melaka.

Then, the weirdest thing happen. 10 minutes after that, I`m on a bus, directly going to Kajang. It`s really weird because

1) There aren`t suppose to be any bus that goes to Kajang during the day.
2) I`m the only passenger.

How can that happen, start guessing.

*I`m just to tired to go on... in fact, the more I type, the more I felt that this whole entry is jumbled up... maybe someday else.. for now, sleep.

Two place at a time

I just so wish that`s possible. In fact, I need to be more than 2 places.

Be at Kajang to settle payment some throphies for MMU open
Be at Uitm Shah Alam for debate.
Be at MMU Melaka campus to settle logistical issues.
Be at church for good friday.

Be At Uitm for debate
Be at Holy Family Kajang Church for Easter Vigil
Be at some hotel for social dinner
Be at MMU Melaka campus to adjuricate for MMUM closed.
Be at campus to take my freaking Thermodynamics Mid term.

Regardless of where I had to be... I`ll probably be dead... heaven or hell.. that I don`t need to be both at the same time. Finally.

Logistical Nightmare

It`s good when things are fine. But what happen when everything goes wrong...

I`ll quote Mr Syukor, assistant director of STAD

"mampus la macam ni".

The good thing about the the open chess tournament I`m organizing is that we had quite a number coming in. The bad thing is,

1) finance rejects the claim for the 2nd time.
2) even if finance accept now, the money won`t come out in time.
3) people are coming from all over the place, at weird hours.
5) the worst of all is, the hostel and hotel which suppose to cater for the participants are filled out.

LIKE WTF!!!!!! now where are ppl from kl, penang and everywhere's going to stay!! my house won`t even fit half of them.

Miracles have to happen now.

*since mid terms are going on now, I just might be too stress up and start doing things like this.

the funny thing is that the lecturer actually reply to his nonsense.... And a giant squid attack is very probable also. :P *also note that he got 4 marks out of 10 for that question and for the rest, he got it all correct.

Trip to the zoo.. again

The last time I went to zoo, I brought one children (my brother). This time, I had 30!!

Remember the last time I had a charity drive? We used part of that money to bring these kids from Salvation Army Child`s Home to the zoo.

That`s Amram helping to lead the children. We first brought them to a performance show in the zoo.

It started off with parrots.... then it moved on to snakes.. and guess where the snakes are.

If I`m hard working, I would have put an arrow in the picture. Since I`m lazy I`ll just tell you. There`s a huge phyton in a box hidden under the bench where the girl in orange jacket is sitting. No.. this is not an april fool joke.

In fact, there are 2 snakes hidden among the audience. One in a bag.. a little one. Another, a phyton.. huge ass one. And you can imagine the shock all of us had when the zoo guy just came over here.. open up the box. (and all the children are curious what`s inside) and he took out a big phyton. Freaky. Amazingly.. none of the children cried. Lol

Probably the elephant made them laugh again. Then again.. maybe not.

That (the pic above) sure made ME laugh.

That`s Wei Pin and his bunch of children. lol

I got the children to sit down and draw a picture of the tiger (behind the picture). Frankly speaking, I myself can`t draw a tiger, so I`m not suprise that most of their drawing turns up like this.

Ok, that`s my drawing.... anyway.. we possed with one of their drawings.. but too bad, the camera`s not clear enough.

After nearly 2 and a half hours.. most of the kids lost their interest in animals as all were too tired. Even we were tired after walking the entire zoo. A few of us had to carry the kids.. poor thing. So guys, the next time you go to the zoo.. TAKE THE DAMM TRAM!.

To compensate for their torture (of walking then entire zoo) we treat them McD.

Suddenly everyone seems to be happy again. To conclude, I would like to give many many thanks to those who volunteer for today`s outing : Adelene, Amran, Sujj , 2 of Sujj`s friends which I could`nt remember their names, and probably their face also, Huan Ren, and Wei Pin.

Not forgeting the 2 American caretakers who left their home and came all the way here to take care of the kids. You guys deserve my highest respect.

Btw, the whole thing cost only about 500 bucks, for 41 people. A small price to pay for a day filled with joy. (at least for the kids).

This space is my simple escape from the harsh reality. Expect lots of random rants and whining apart from the daily reporting of things going I`m going through.

Take nothing seriously, leave comments, or just a simple hi. The world is getting smaller by the day, why not know each other now. Have fun ya all.
